POF blasts death toll rises to 100

CNews RAWALPINDI: The death toll in double suicide blasts at Pakistan Ordinance Factory rose to 100, while the number of injured is being reported as 110 here Thursday.According to Pakistan Ordnance Factories Board press release issued here, that the bomb blasts occurred outside two exit gates of POF Wah Cantt about 1440 hrs when a large number of workers of POF were coming out at the time of shift change. Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Regional Police Officer Nasir Khan Durrani said that death toll has risen to 70, whereas critically injured were being given medical treatment in the hospital. The RPO said that those people who lost their lives in the barbaric incident, were identified as Shams, Naseer, Arshad, Sami, Joseph, Riaz, Abbass, Ashaq, Zareef, Amir, Aabid, Arif, Kamran, Ijaz, Tariq, Abdul Razzaq, Jawad, Iqbal, Zahid, Wali Muhammad, Azmat, Amjad, Muhammad Hussain, Jameel, Shahfeeq, Ashraf, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Rehman, Allah Rakha, Sami Ul Haq, Badar Munir, Ishtiaq, Ihsan, Siuraj, Naveed, Zahid, Younas, Dildar, Bilal, Shahzad, Sabir, Nasim,Naseer, Yaqub, Rashid, Khalid, Imran Basheer and Ali Akbar. He said that eight bodies are in mutilated condition and their identity could not be ascertained yet. Brig. Arshad Zia, Commandant POF hospital told reporters that some 67 persons were injured in the incident, out of which, 21 are in critical condition. Those admitted at POF hospital include Younas, Kosar, Rashid, Naveed Khan, Jhangir, Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed, Liaquat, Ahmed Nawaz, Nazar Mahmood, Asif Shahzad, Samiullah, Mazhar Hussain, Khalid Mahmood, Rafi, Naveed, Liaquat Hussain, Babar Ali, Amjad Ali, Arif, Shafiq, Qaiser, Moiuddin, Khazir, Imran, Ibrahim, Fazal Hussain, Sajjad, Akram, Muhammad Humyoun, Saqab Shahzad, Talat Mahmood, Amjad Zaman, Salihuddin, Ghulam Murtaza, Muhammad Daoud, Munwar, Qadir Ahmed, Fida Shah, Younas, Fizzat Farooq, Muhammad Ramzan, Parvez Akhtar, Azam Khan, Javed Iqbal, Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Ayub, Sappi Afsar Ali, Asif Shahzad, Attique ur Rehman, Ali Kosar, Abdul Majeed, Moheed Akram, Mukhtar, Naveed Khan, Muzaffar, Fasil Javed, Jahangir, Zia ullah and Mazhar. All were employees of POF.Commenting on the unfortunate incident, eyewitnesses said a suicide bomber blew him up followed by another when the employees of the factory were leaving the premises after work.Soon after the blast, the security personnel immediately rushed the scene and cordoned off the area.DIG Rawalpindi Rao Iqbal confirmed 100 casualties, saying that some 110 others were injured among many were in serious condition.According to interior ministry sources, security has been put on high alert throughout the country, especially sensitive installationsA jacket used in suicide bomb attacks was found from a mosque near the blast site. As many as two suspected people have been taken into custody from the blast area.National Assembly condemned the double blasts in Wah Cantt as grave acts of terrorism.
