CNews ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday conferred non-operational military awards on 30 officers of Pakistan Air Force on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day. The awards include two Hilal-i-Imtiaz (military), 13 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (military), 12 Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (military), one Sitara-i--Basalat and two Tamgha-i-Basalat. Those who were given Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) include Air Vice Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt and Air Vice Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan. The officials who were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) are Air Commodore Syed Azhar Hasan Bokhari, Air Commodore Khalid Farooq Chishti, Air Commodore Muhammad Arif, Air Commodore Syed Hassan Raza, Air Commodore Hamid Shahab Hashmi, Air Commodore Arshad Khan, Air Commodore Sohail Ahmad Malik, Air Commodore Nadeem Aslam, Group Captain Kamran Shahid, Group Captain Shahzad Ahmad Khan, Group Captain Muhammad Nizam Uddin, Group Captain Iftikhar Hussain Sheikh and Group Captain Khaliq-Uz-Zaman. Those given Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) are Group Captain Zulfiquar Ahmad Qureshi, Group Captain Syed Muhammad Ali, Group Captain Muhammad Nadeem Sabir, Group Captain Imtiaz Sattar, Group Captain Muhammad Tariq Yaqoob Khan, Wing Commander Nadeem Tariq, Wing Commander Muhammad Afzal Saeed, Wing Commander Agha Khurram Khan, Wing Commander Muhammad Naeem, Wing Commander Raghib-Ur-Rehman, Group Captain Moazzam Shahzad and Wing Commander Muhammad Jamil Dilshad. Sitara-i-Basalat was given to Wing Commander Azhar Ismail (Shaheed), while Tamgha-i-Basalat were given to Flight Lieutenant Gulfam Soomro (Shaheed) and Pilot Officer Raja Jahanzeb (Shaheed).

July 05: A Pakistani Scientist in Britain has invented a new chemical for processing plastic (polythene) bags which has the quality of dissolution after its use in 105 days.A manufacturing unit for these plastic bags was being set up in Turkey while interest has been shown in the setting up of a big unit and manufacturing firm’s head quarter in Karachi which will be used to supply such dissolvable polythene bags to Asian countries. The Director of UK based firm Bio Plast Biodegradable Plastics GL Punn while leading a 15 member delegation called on EDO Municipal Services City Government Masood Alam.
