US strikes wont be helpful, say Zardari, Karzai

CNews ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai in a joint press conference here vowed to struggle jointly for peace and stability in the region.The two leaders while answering the questions of media men in a press conference here said the two countries would work jointly to face the challenges posed by the terrorism.Zardari and Karzai vowed to protest over attacks on the innocent people and unanimously said that the US strikes would not be helpful in the war against terrorists. Asif Ali Zardari further said that he has accepted the Presidency of Pakistan in the name of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and in the name of the martyrs of democracy.He thanked the people of Pakistan for their trust in him.He assured Afghanistan and all neighbouring countries that Pakistan intends to work with them for peace and prosperity.He called the government to take steps for filling the gap between the demand and supply.Afghan President Hamid Karzai earlier in his remarks thanked President Asif Ali Zardari and government of Pakistan for inviting him to attend the inauguration of President Zardari.He said Pakistan and Afghanistan are like twins and both are facing the same problems.President Zardari while replying a question of a Chinese journalist said that his first foreign visit might be of China. He said the parliament would decide about the fate of the former president Pervez Musharraf. “I will accept the decision of the parliament and the people about the presidential powers under Article 58-2-B and the 17th amendment,” he further said.Replying a question over the issue of Kashmir President Zardari said the backdoor negotiations have been continued. He further said that the nation would hear good news about Kashmir within one month.Replying to another question Zardari said "We won’t let the militants to capture a single inch of our territory". He said the President is subservient to the Parliament.
