CNews ISLAMABAD: President-elect and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has directed all the ministries and government departments not to publish advertisements of congratulations to him as the new president.In a statement issued on Monday, President-elect Asif Ali Zardari said, "we are a poor country and do not afford such extravagance of cost of the money of Pakistan's taxpayers." "The world is watching us and new democratic government is facing many challenges both on internal and external fronts. Democratic government along with the people of Pakistan has to prove that they have the will and conviction to bring about the positive changes in the social and economic structures of this country," he added.Zardari said," dictatorial rule has not been beneficial to Pakistan's image in the community of nations. Regaining the lost respect is a grueling task and I believe that together we will achieve this objective very soon."President Zardari stressed on the importance of working hard and acting with austerity to take the nation on a way to progress. It is pertinent to mention here that President Zardari had reverted the Sindh government decision of announcing holiday on Monday terming it unnecessary and asked the people to work harder instead of wasting time in holidays.
