Pakistan celebrating Eidul Fitr with religious fervour


ISLAMABAD: The Eid ul Fitr is being celebrated by the faithfuls in the country including Azad Kashmir with religious fervor, the Eid namaz was offered at Eidgahs, Imambargahs, parks, open places in the country, security has been enhanced throughout the country to avoid any unwanted occurrence.President Asif Ali Zardari offered Eid prayers at President House and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in PM House, former President Pervez Musharraf in Army House, Army Chief Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani in Chaklalah, deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry in Faisal Mosque, Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuro in Garhi Khuda Bux and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah offered prayers in Naudero House.In the federal capital, the largest Eid congregations were held at Faisal Mosque and Lal Masjid; in Rawalpindi, main congregations were held at the Central Eidgah, Liaquat Bagh, Jamia Masjid, Racecourse Ground and in various areas of Cantt.In the provincial metropolis, the largest congregations were held at Nishtar Park and Bagh-e-Jinnah where Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, diplomats from Muslim countries in Karachi and several other luminaries offered Eid prayers.The local newspapers published special Eid supplements highlighting the day's importance. Various radio and television channels are broadcasting special Eid programmes. On this occasion, special security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incident and the law enforcers have been directed to have a strict vigil to keep the peace of the country intact.Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, while talking to journalists at Bagh-e-Jinnah, congratulated the people of the whole country on the happy occasion of Eid.Governor Sindh said Eid Day teaches us a lesson of brotherhood and unity, adding, ‘We should share our happiness with the poor and helpless.He said the Muslim World is facing myriads of problems at this time and Pakistan is no exception, adding, ‘In these dire circumstances, we pray to Allah to give stability to Muslim World especially Pakistan and confer on us the progress and prosperity.’Special security measures were taken up around Bagh-e-Jinnah, the road leading to the congregation place was blocked with tanker and walk-through gates were installed, where the people entering the prayer area were body-searched.In NWFP also, hundreds of Eid prayers congregations were organized, the biggest among them was held at Eidgah Charsadda, where over 50 thousands of Muslims offered Eid prayers. NWFP Governor Owais Ghani and Chief Minister Amir Hyder HOti offered Eid prayers at Sabzazar of Governor House.In Dera Ismail Khan, the largest Eid congregation was held at Jamia Masjid Eidgah Kalan, where thousands of Muslims offered prayers.In Balochistan, Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Maqsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisaani offered Eid prayers at Central Eidgah situated at Toghi Road Quetta.In Azad Kashmir also, Eidul Fitr is being observed with religious zeal and zest and hundreds of Eid prayers congregations were organized in various areas. Strict security arrangements were taken on this occasion throughout the region of Azad Kashmir.
