CNews KARACHI: The 19.5 Km long signal-free corridor-II having five flyovers, constructed at a cost of Rs 4 billion, was opened for traffic on Thursday evening after its formal inauguration by Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan.The Governor, alongwith City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and Naib Nazim Nasrin Jalil, inaugurated this longest signal-free corridor stretching from Sharea Faisal to Surjani Town by cutting ribbons of five different colours at Nagan Chowrangi flyover.Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of signal-free corridor-II, the governor said City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has rapidly completed the development projects and thus added a new chapter in the country's history. The Governor described this project as a successful experiment towards ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. He pointed out that the process of the development of this metropolis would continue. Dr. Ishrat stated that the development of Karachi tantamount to the development of Pakistan. He also said that the development of this city is inevitable for the progress of the country and that no hindrance in this process would be allowed. The Governor also praised the City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, for his significant contributions towards the development of Karachi. He said that the country at the moment is facing two main challenges- economic problem and the scourge of terrorism. Dr. Ishrat asked the politicians as well as the industrialists to contribute their bit to steer the country from the crisis. He said that the unity as well as the cohesion is the need of the hour. The Governor was of the view that any change in the local bodies system was not possible.
