ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday said the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces, police, law enforcement agencies and people in the fighting against militancy and extremism would not go in vain. In a message on the eve of Martyrs Day being observed by the army to pay tribute to the officers and Jawans who laid down their lives in fighting militants and extremists, the President said, "the whole nation salutes the valiant defenders of the country and stands behind them". President Zardari said without the courage and sacrifices of the members of the armed forces and full backing of the people, it would not have been possible to defeat militancy and raise once again the banner of Pakistan in Swat and Malakand. The President also prayed for the souls of the martyred officers and Jawans and said the soldiers had written a new chapter in the history of country with their blood and the nation would never forget their sacrifices. He said the nation also owed gratitude to the families of the martyrs and said it was the sacred duty of all to do everything possible to rehabilitate the families and enable them cope with the challenges that face them.

July 05: A Pakistani Scientist in Britain has invented a new chemical for processing plastic (polythene) bags which has the quality of dissolution after its use in 105 days.A manufacturing unit for these plastic bags was being set up in Turkey while interest has been shown in the setting up of a big unit and manufacturing firm’s head quarter in Karachi which will be used to supply such dissolvable polythene bags to Asian countries. The Director of UK based firm Bio Plast Biodegradable Plastics GL Punn while leading a 15 member delegation called on EDO Municipal Services City Government Masood Alam. The Executive Director of Bio Plast Pakistan Muhammad Hanif Awan and M. Sultan Mehmood Awan was also present on this occasion.
