LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that some media reports about clash between institutions were baseless and untrue. He was talking to journalists before leaving for a three-day personal visit to London. He said that the nation and the armed forces are lucky for having a pro-democracy and professional leader of the calibre of Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, and he thought that in his presence, the prospect of involvement of any agency in such a conspiracy was impossible. In reply to a question regarding the MQM convention in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan is for all and everyone is allowed to organize political activities in the country, which is the beauty of democracy. He said that though he would be on a personal tour, he would look into projects of power generation from coal in the UK as Britain had gained expertise in generating power from coal. In reply to a question, the chief minister said a meeting with MQM leader Altaf Hussain is not part of his schedule.

July 05: A Pakistani Scientist in Britain has invented a new chemical for processing plastic (polythene) bags which has the quality of dissolution after its use in 105 days.A manufacturing unit for these plastic bags was being set up in Turkey while interest has been shown in the setting up of a big unit and manufacturing firm’s head quarter in Karachi which will be used to supply such dissolvable polythene bags to Asian countries.
