We recently learned that Motorola were to launch the Shadow – we had assumed that this will be the Droid 2, but we have since learned otherwise. The former should be released sometime in July with the latter following shortly after and now a prototype has been spotted in the wild. Engadget were giving a tip by Howard Forums members Mabbikeel and Tuan Tran, we can clearly see that the new Droid will be smaller in size as it has done away with the huge main button to the right when turned on its side, and that it will be in chrome and not black – but let us not forget that this is just a prototype. The keys look much better than the current Motorola Droid as they protrude more in their center – so typing should be much easier than before. Let us hope that the Droid goes on a diet, as the current model is certainly one of the heaviest Android handsets on the market. According to Droid Life they reckon that Droid 2 has shown up in the Verizon inventory system – they even have a screen grab to prove it. As yet we have no idea what the specs will be and what version of Google Android will be running the system – we just hope that it is 2.2 Froyo from the box.
