JACOBABAD: Three latest F-16 fighter jets are officially handed over to Pakistan Air Force while PAF Air Chief Marshall Rao Qamar said we do not intend to participate in the weapons race but the purchase of the F-16 fighter jets is necessary for the defense of the country, Awaz Apni reported Sunday.
The official ceremony, to hand over 3 F-16 jets to PAF, was held at Jacobabad’s Shahbaz Air Base. The American Ambassador in Pakistan N.W.Peterson and Head of the American Air Force General A Schwartz were also present at the ceremony.
General Schwartz, in his address to the ceremony, said that the delivery of F-16 jets is a proof of the strong relations between America and Pakistan and these will help in action against the terrorists.
The American Ambassador N.W.Peterson, addressing to the ceremony, said that we have very deep relations with Pakistan and with the help of Islamabad we will establish peace in the area. She added that we will fulfill all the needs of Pakistan Air Force.
In his address to the ceremony the head of PAF, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said that it is the need of the hour that the trust level between America and Pakistan shall be improved and the purchase of F-16 jets is necessary for the defense of the country.
