Awaz Apni LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Monday dodged a question on government’s decision to extend the tenure of the Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
Nawaz Sharif when asked to comment on COAS tenure extension only replied by saying ‘there are many regrets in life other than love’.
He was talking to media men at General Hospital Lahore where he came to visit PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and to enquire about the health.
The PML-N Chief said budget of all the state institutions including the Army should be tabled in the Parliament. We want strong democratic institutions through implementation of the Charter of Democracy (CoD), he reiterated.
He said no compromise will be made on the issue of fake degrees and that PML-N’s stance on the issue has been unambiguous and clear. “Rotten eggs must be thrown out of the country’s politics,” Nawaz Sharif said.
Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, he observed, is speedily recovering health and hoped that the former will be discharged and going back home within the next 10 days.
