Pakistan reached 114-1 against Australia at stumps on day three of the first test at Lord's on Thursday in a world record run chase after being set 440 to win. Australia legspinner Steven Smith claimed his maiden test wicket by removing Imran Farhat (24) after tea. Salman Butt was unbeaten on 58 for his second half-century in the match and debutant Azhar Ali had 28 as the Pakistanis needed 326 more to win.
Mitchell Johnson is bowled by Umar Gul in Australia's second innings during the third day of the first MCC Spirit of Cricket Test match at Lord's cricket ground in London. Pakistan needed quick wickets to have any chance of a win when play resumed with Australia 100 for four in their second innings, an overall lead of 205. Instead nightwatchman Mitchell Johnson stroked a handsome 30 and Ben Hilfenhaus recorded his highest first class score of 56 not out.
