 MUZAFFARGARH: The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, have reached Muzaffargarh to visit the flood affected areas, SAMAA reported Sunday. They met the flood victims of Sultan Camp, while Ban Ki-Moon has assured Zardari to make every possible effort towards the rehabilitation of flood victims. Pakistan is passing through the most crucial period in its history by facing the worst devastation caused by heavy rains and floods. Millions of people have lost everything to the floods - their lives, homes, relatives, crops, farms and animals. People from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab and Sindh to Balochistan are struggling hard to survive. The Government of Pakistan, Pakistan army, common people and non governmental welfare organizations are trying their best to provide relief to the flood affected people spread all over Pakistan, but due to scarce resources they are unable to fully reach them. Taking notice of the grave situation in Pakistan, the United Nations appealed to the world to provide quick and severely needed aid to the flood victims, while United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon has arrived in Pakistan to inspect the devastations and boost the pace of world relief aid. After arriving in Pakistan, Ban Ki-Moon called on President Zardari in Islamabad. During their meeting he said, "I am came to Pakistan to express my solidarity with the people of Pakistan." Earlier, when United Nations Secretary General arrived on his visit to Pakistan at Chaklala Air Base, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other officials received him. Ban Ki-Moon, while talking to journalists, appealed to the global community to provide extensive aid for the flood victims of Pakistan. | |
