Breaking News KARACHI: The portfolio of Sindh Home Ministery has reportedly been taken back from Dr Zulfiqar Mirza appearenly due to his sickness.Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah will himself be overseeing the department in Mirza’s absence.
The statements and stances of Mirza, who is also Pakistan Peoples’ Partly Sindh’s senior vice president, enlarged gulf between the ruling party and its ally in Sindh, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
MQM had also been demanding of President Asif Ali Zardari to sack Mirza from his office.
The provincial government was under pressure to change Mirza’s office, after unabated wave of target-killings in Karachi, poor law and order situation in the city and traders protest against extortion mafia.
Sources said Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Wednesday separately called on the CM and Governor Dr Ishrat Ul-Ebad at the Governor House to appraise them of his stance.
Mirza, afterwards, did not interact with reports. However, talking to newsmen CM Qaim Ali Shah said “he wants to go to abroad on leave for treatment of his illness”, adding that he would supervise the home ministry until the minister returns.
To a question that how many days leave Mirza will be taking, Shah said “I don’t know how long will he be on leave”.
Though, nature of the illness in not known thus far. Sources near to Mirza reveal that he was taking at least 15-day leave and might go to abroad.
Breaking News KARACHI: Former Home Minister Sindh Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Mirza while speaking to DawnNews on Wednesday said that he was going on a sick leave.
“Despite all pressures, I worked honestly for three years,” said Mirza while speaking to BNewsWorld in an exclusive interview.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah will be assuming all duties of Mirza while he is on leave.
