It has been almost a year, but now there is to be four iPhone 4 versions for India. There will be those wondering why it has taken so long, but when you look at the history between India and Apple, we now hope that they are changing the trend. While this news will not be very beneficial to those of you in other parts of the world, just imagine how much it is a big deal for the Indian market?
Looking on the Flipkart website we can see that they are currently out of stock, but Tech 2 believes that they are finally on their way. The four versions will be the 16GB and 32GB, along with a choice of black or white. In the past India has been one of the last on the list when it comes to getting Apple’s smartphone; the reason for this was due to the lack of 3G support by local carriers. Now that they have started to push out this service in parts of the country they are now starting to get the handsets that consumers have been craving.
There is evidence to support this fact, as India received the iPad 2 just one and a half months after it was launched. However, we do wonder why Apple offered the country the fourth-generation iPhone when the fifth-generation model is expected to be released in just four months?
If we were to put a wager on it we would say that the iPhone 5/4S or whatever they might call it will be launched in India six months after the U.S., UK and the rest of Europe. Who knows, one day it might be released at the same time as the rest of us?
The cost of the 16GB iPhone is expected to be Rs. 34,500, with the 32GB version coming in at Rs. 40,900. As yet there are no pre-order details or when the device is expected to start shipping.
Is it a good or bad thing that India is to get the iPhone 4, which is now 11 months old?
