CNewsworld.com: Bilour proposes federation of regional countries to restore peace
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Federal Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Tuesday proposed a confederation of Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to restore durable peace in the region.
He said that this confederation should be similar to European Union.
Addressing a press conference here, Bilour said peace is vital for prosperity, which could be achieved through establishment of a confederation comprising Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
When asked about removal of borders of these countries, he presented the EU as an example.
This proposal of regional alliance is not particularly new. South Asian Alliance of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) comprising South Asian nations has similar objectives, as outlined by Ghulam Ahmed Bilour. SAMAA
