MULTAN: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Saturday he quit his office in respect of judiciary. But he added nobody has the authority to disqualify the representative of 180 million people.
Speaking at a seminar here, former PM termed as his “victory” the parliament’s decision not to disqualify him following his conviction by the Supreme Court.
He said that even Socrates had accepted a poison-filled bowl over a judicial verdict.
“People would have defied courts’ orders in the future if he had refused to accept the decision,” he said.
“I presented a resolution to authorize Co-Chairperson to pick up a new prime minister.”
The former premier said people, not any other institution, would decide the future. SAMAA
