CNET Analysis: It wasn’t too long ago that we told you about an iOS lock screen bug on iOS 6.1.2 , which enabled individuals to gain access to phone contacts. Over one month later, it looks like Apple are still having major problems trying to sort out security issues on the newest iOS 6.1.3 update, as we can confirm that another lock screen exploit has now been discovered. At the moment, it appears that this new lock screen bug is only affecting iPhone 4 and 4S handsets at the moment – so the iPhone 5 could be safe for the time being. While the last lock screen problem involved using the emergency call function which is still active on the lock screen, this latest exploit uses the voice call feature as well as the SIM card tray. The video above shows you the problem at hand exactly – initiate a voice control call whilst the phone is locked and then pull out the SIM card tray. Doing so will push your phone into the contacts section, enabling you to view the entire list and make changes as required. In the wrong hands, this is obviously a serious problem for Apple and there’s a further issue in which users can also gain access to the stored Photos on the phone by clicking the ‘Add Photo’ option inside phone contacts. It now means that following on from an Apple statement in which they confirmed that a fix would be coming to solve the last lock screen problem, they will now need to go back to work to fix this latest issue. If you have an iPhone 4 or 4S at the ready on iOS 6.1.3, try the new exploit for yourself and see if it works for you as well when opening the SIM card tray. Do you think it is starting to get worrying that two lock screen issues have been found within the previous two releases of iOS?
