CNET Analysis: The iPhone 6 and iOS 7 are getting closer to release and WWDC is just around the corner, so it would be obvious for more solid rumors to surface as we move towards confirmation of features for the new hardware and software. Apple has certainly innovated over the last few years although it seems the world's biggest technology brand seems to borrow and repackage while creating new products. Samsung recently launched their new Galaxy S4 smartphone and with it heavily promoted the idea of tracking eye movements, which have impressed some of our readers and the lack of a major design change upset others. One thing is for sure, and this is the movement towards using your eyes to control both hardware and software. It's understood from the current rumors that we might see an iPhone 6 release after a possible iPhone 5S model, which could see a gap of only months rather than a full year. This is of course speculation at this time, but the idea of upgrading from your current iPhone would need something a lot more than just tracking of eye movements, or would it? We have included a video below this article that features how an iPhone 6, or 5S, would use eye tracking technology on a mobile device. The video runs for under 2 minutes and focus on a software only solution for tracking eye movements, which Umoove states will be available shortly for Android and iOS. The version found on the new Galaxy S4 has been designed from the ground up, and is integrated with the handset from launch. Safari would be used on a daily basis by a lot of users and iOS 7 would need to innovate a little with the browser software, which we touched on a few of the features that could create a much better browser in a recent article focued on possible iOS 7 enhancements for Safari. The feedback we’ve had so far in regard to eye tracking seems to be mixed, and iOS users look to be split on the desire for such a feature with some consider! ing it another novelty that wouldn’t be used much. Would you like to see eye tracking added to iPhone 6 and iOS 7, or would you see it as Apple just copying other brands with their own repackaged version? Having owned every generation and for the first time we’re seriously considering to miss the iPhone 6, or 5S, which would be the first time we missed an iPhone launch to date. Personally, Apple borrowing ideas from others isn't a problem in my opinion but some improvements are needed with the next-generation of iPhone. For starters the current iPhone feels great, in our opinion, and runs a lot cooler but scratches far too easily. The screen needs to grow in width a little and also in length, but not too much, and having an edge-to-edge screen would allow for more screen real estate without making the iPhone 6 / 5S less of a phone size.
