CNETAnalysis: In an early-week announcement, Verizon revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 would be released online and in Verizon retail stores on Thursday. The 4G LTE tablet runs Android 4.1: Jelly Bean and comes with Samsung’s signature S-Pen stylus. The 10.1-inch tablet will retail for $599.99 and can be added to an existing Verizon “share everything” account for an additional $10 a month. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 was initially released last summer in Wi-Fi only form, and its global release has occurred in fits and spurts since then. Pros and cons In early January, Verizon reported that the Galaxy Note 10.1 would be released “in the coming weeks,” and a release this Thursday – at the beginning of March – barely fits within that time frame. The carrier said the large Samsung tablet is better for “note-taking, photo editing and multitasking” than other tablets thanks to its S-Pen stylus. TechRadar’s own review praised its TouchWiz UI and native software options, plus its admirable speed and performance. However, Apple’s iPad 4 still provides a possibly superior alternative. With a 1280×800 LCD display, a 1.4GHz quad-core chip, 5- and 1.9-megapixel cameras on back and front, 2GB of memory, and 16GB of storage with room for a 64GB microSD, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is worth considering for lovers of large tablets.
