Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. S3 specs side-by-side

CNET Analysis: The moment has finally arrived, with Samsung officially confirming and unleashing the Samsung Galaxy S4 superphone at a press conference in New York just hours ago. As expected, the device is a beast in terms of hardware specs and we have a quick heads up for you now on how the new Galaxy S4 compares vs the still impressive Galaxy S3. To get the biggest and best news out of the way first, we can confirm that the Galaxy S4 will indeed be shipping with the brand new 8 core Exynos 5 Octa processor out of the box, but this will be dependent on where you live similar to the Galaxy S3. There were fears that the Exynos 5 may be absent altogether, but we’re delighted to see that this won’t be the case. It means that the Galaxy S4 will be available with either a 1.6Ghz Octa core processor, or a 1.9Ghz quad-core Snapdragon Fusion Pro processor, compared to the Galaxy S3 which is available with either a quad-core Exynos processor or a dual-core Snapdragon chip. The camera department is also set for a major shakeup, as unlike the Galaxy S3 which ships with a respectable 5 megapixel shooter, the Galaxy S4 is going to debut with a whopping 13 megapixel sensor with the ability to snap 100 photos in around 4 seconds whilst choosing the best one. It looks like a lot of the previous speculation on the device was true. The Galaxy S4 is going to be available in a 64GB storage capacity at launch unlike the S3, with a further 64GB available with MicroSD card which is fantastic. The battery is also getting a pleasing upgrade as well – 2600mAh which is removable compared to the 2100mAh battery inside the S3. Display is a full 5-inches unlike the 4.8-inch Galaxy S3 display, while the ppi has been boosted up to 441 as well which will provide a greater degree of clarity than the S3. CNET has provided a useful side-by-side chart, which will give you a better idea of how the two devices compare at a glance. The Galaxy S! 4 may look exactly the same as the S3, but the hardware upgrades should be very desirable indeed for a lot of you. Let us know your initial impressions of the Galaxy S4 and whether you plan to buy one straight away in April, or stick with the Galaxy S3 for now.

In Depth: Could robots be the writers of the future?

CNETAnalysis: It might be concerned with aliens, outer space and dimensional jumping for now, but ‘sci-fi’ might have to be redefined if the latest advances in automated writing continue apace. Software that can construct sentences, analyse data and even put a ‘spin’ on a news story are threatening to make the newsdesk and the author’s writing room very different places. The end for journalists? Journalism isn’t complicated. The popularity of online news stories can be tracked – and therefore the importance of news easily ranked – while almost everything is written using the inverted pyramid structure . Since automated writing software can already do most of that, are we looking at the last generation of human journalists? Narrative Science’s Quill is the leading automated writing software title. It transforms structured data into readable, plain English stories that are identical to those written by humans, ...
