LAHORE: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Friday warned the Government of Pakistani against taking any unconstitutional step in the legal matters of AJK. Addressing the lawyers at Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), he said any unconstitutional interference from Islamabad would also have implications on Pakistan. Some steps taken by Islamabad are creating a split among the people of Kashmir, he said, but added for Kashmiris, Pakistan is like a mother, whom they cannot fight. ISLAMABAD: Law Minister Babar Awan told the Senate on Friday that according to the NAB''s record, it recovered 225 billion rupees from defaulters since 2000 and some 1.7 billion rupees were disbursed among NAB''s employees during this period as reward for the recovery. Senate Chairman Forooq Naik instructed to constitute a committee to scrutinise the affairs of NAB. The Senate was also informed that a new law to ensure across the board transparent accountability was in the offing and it would be tabled before the parliament soon, after due consultation with all political forces. ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Thursday that mostly junior officers were being targeted by the government in the light of UN report on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Real culprits were behind the curtain, he said and announced to take up this matter in the next session of National Assembly. Speaking to media outside the Parliament House, he said legislation was the prerogative of the Parliament, but he was quick to add the constitution also gives court the right to interpret law. The opposition leader opined that the Supreme Court should be given the time to discharge its responsibilities. The members of parliament may have any differences with the apex court on any issue, but it could not be described as confrontation, he said. ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry has submitted a report about an inquiry conducted into the promotion of former Additional Director General of Federal Investigation Agency, Ahmed Riaz Sheikh in the Supreme Court. The report has put the blame on Additional Secretary Tahir Sarfraz. A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Justice Nasir ulna Mulk is hearing a case about implementation of NRO verdict. Other judges include Justice Raja Muhammad Fiaz, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja, Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri and Justice Tariq Parvez. In his statement, Additional Secretary Tahir Sarfraz told the court that Secretary Establishment and interior ministry, who were served contempt of court notice, were deliberately trying to drag him into the case. Justice Raja Fiaz remarked that four and half months were gone but still the NRO verdict was not implemented. Meanwhile, the court put off the hearing till next Thursday.

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met Wednesday for a second time with families of three American hikers being held in Iran since July 2009 and discussed ongoing effort to win their release, officials said. KARACHI: A local court issued on Wednesday a contempt of court notice against Sub-Inspector Shahid Qureshi in a kidnapping case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi and her three children. The case was registered at a Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on Dec 7, 2009 against kidnapping of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi. A probe team headed by the then SSP Niaz Khokar had traveled to the United States to record Dr. Aafia's statements. However, the US government had declined permission to record her statement. Later, Dr. Siddiqi's counsel Qadir Khan Mandokhel submitted an application in the court, seeking chalan of the case. On this the investigation officer submitted a report on March 2 after recording statements of Dr Siddiqi's children and her mother Dr. Ismat Siddiqi. According to the report, there was still no clue about the whereabouts of accused. However, the court rejected this report and ordered the investigation officer to carry out a fresh probe. KABUL: Afghan police say a suicide bomber has detonated a cache of explosives near Kandahar in an attack targeting a compound providing logistical support to NATO forces. Kandahar Police Chief Sher Mohammed Zazai says three people were killed when the suicide bomber and other insurgents launched the attack Tuesday night about one mile (two kilometers) from Kandahar Air Field. Hospital workers say 35 others were injured. Kandahar is the site of a planned offensive by Afghan and NATO forces to clear the city of Taliban fighters and break the grip of warlords who have allowed the militants to slip back in. Sania is wearing sea-green sharara while Shoaib is in black suit. Guests in large number are already present at the reception and Sania’s relatives coming from Hyderabad Deccan are also there. International oil prices from 1st April to 16th has increased by three percent, diesel seven percent and kerosene oil eight percent.
